SONG REVENUE CHART: BACK TO (THE NEW) NORMAL

There are no less than 36 newcomers, relatively speaking, on our latest Song Revenue Chart—the exact number of tracks that got pushed out of the Top 50 by Christmas songs a week earlier. The sense that the holidays are over is further brought home by the week-over-week comparison of six-figure earnings totals: all 50 tracks broke $100k during Christmas week, but only 15 passed that plateau on New Year’s week.

Post Malone gives Republic the #1 and 2 biggest earners, totaling a tidy $426k. Also noteworthy is the number of non-hip-hop songs on the chart, led by #3 Halsey (Capitol), with Ariana Grande (Republic) #5, Marshmello & Bastille (Astralwerks/Joytime Collective/ Capitol) #9—and 18 of the Top 50 in all.

That’s unusual in this day and age, and so is the growth of country; the genre has six entries—two from Dan + Shay (Warner Nashville), followed by Mitchell Tenpenny (Riser House/Columbia Nashville), Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line (WBR), Luke Combs (River House/Columbia Nashville) and Kane Brown (RCA Nashville/Zone 4).
