AMOEBA PLOTS RESURRECTION ON HOLLYWOOD BLVD.

Ameoba Music's iconic Sunset Blvd. location in Hollywood will not be reopening due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The storied retailer is diverting its energy to the fall opening of its new location at 6200 Hollywood Blvd. Despite their best efforts to give the beloved record store a proper send-off, according to the announcement, there were simply too many uncertainties and safety concerns.

The statement reads "The only thing we do know for certain is that we want to survive. We want to be there for our amazing customers and our incredible staff long after this pandemic disappears. The only way we can keep Amoeba Hollywood alive in the long run is to make this difficult decision now."

Last week Amoeba launched a GoFundMe campaign which has thus far received thousands donations to the tune of over $215k and is being used to help cover health care for employees at all three stores while closures remain in effect. They don't anticipate a major impact on online sales, so record buyers should consider supporting directly via their website. We look forward to flipping through the stacks in search of Moby Grape platters as soon as the fates permit.
