APPLE MUSIC SHOW EXPLORES COUNTRY’S NON-WHITE ROOTS

In her new Apple Music Country biweekly radio show Color Me Country, singer/songwriter Rissi Palmer shines the spotlight on the Black, indigenous and Latinx roots of country music. Rissi aims to put the genre’s history in perspective by looking at those vital, unsung and underrepresented voices who “love, live and breathe country music.”

Rissi explains in the debut episode that she took the show’s title from the landmark debut album by “my foremother and the foremother of all women of color in country music,” Linda Martel on the 50th anniversary of Color Me Country’s release.

“Country music, like jazz music, is one of the truly all-American art forms,” Rissi notes. “And what's all-American? It says it in the name—it's all of us. So, y’all, this is going to be a great journey. I'm excited. I hope you're excited.”
