VAUGHN'S FIRST MOVE: MATTERA TO THE TOWER

The first personnel announcement of the new Capitol Music Group regime is here, as industry veteran Larry Mattera comes aboard as GM of Capitol Records and EVP of CMG. Mattera will report to CEO Jeff Vaughn and will be based in the Capitol Tower, next to a supply cabinet full of masks and hand sanitizer.

Mattera previously served as GM and EVP of Commerce & Marketing at Warner Records, where he worked with artists ranging from Dua Lipa and Bebe Rexha to Gary Clark Jr. and Green Day and once unearthed a priceless trove of vintage joints from the waiting-room couch in the ski lodge. Earlier in his career he worked at WEA, Amp’d Mobile, Def Jam, Epic and Polygram Group Distribution.

“Larry is a forward-thinking and highly experienced music executive who’s been at the forefront of innovative approaches to marketing music his entire career,” Vaughn said. “He’s established an exceptional track record of building strong teams and brings his passion for artists and music to his work every day.”

Mattera said his experience in the streaming marketplace “perfectly complements Jeff's vision for Capitol Records," adding, "I’m also looking forward to playing an integral role as a member of Jeff and Michelle Jubelirer’s CMG executive management team.”
