MORGAN WALLEN LEADS REPUBLIC’S GRAND SLAM

Country superstar Morgan Wallen continues to make history with his double album, Dangerous (Big Loud/Republic), as it logs its third consecutive week at #1 on the HITS Top 50. The record-breaking project posted another six-figure frame (132k) and became the first country set to top the chart in its opening three weeks since Taylor Swift’s Red in 2012.

Republic is serving up its own dominant run at the top of the chart—the Top 4 albums belong to the House of Lipman: Wallen, Victor Victor’s Pop Smoke, Swift’s evermore and The Weeknd’s After Hours (XO). Ariana Grande’s Positions moves to #7 and Swift’s folklore rises to #10, giving Republic six of the Top 10. The label has the genre leaders for country (Wallen), hip-hop (Pop), singer/songwriter (Swift) and pop (The Weeknd).

UMG, it should be added, holds nine of the Top 10; in addition to Republic’s haul, Alamo/Geffen/Interscope’s Lil Durk, Grade A/Interscope’s Juice WRLD and Quality Control/Motown/CMG’s Lil Baby land at #5, #6 and #9, respectively. River House/Columbia Nashville’s Luke Combs is the sole non-Uni title on the leaderboard.

The Weeknd’s After Hours re-enters the Top 5 for the first time since July 2020 as anticipation and the campaign for his Super Bowl Halftime Show bring “Blinding Lights” back to life.

The top debut goes to the all-star album from Anuel AA & Ozuna, Los Dioses (Real Hasta La Muerte), which bows at #13 with 26k.

As for marketshare, UMG commands with 60%, followed by SME’s 22% and WMG with 15%.

Streeting this week are new projects from Lil Durk, Crush’s Weezer, Sony Latin’s Maluma and OVO Sound/Warner’s PARTYNEXTDOOR.
