WMG HANDS OUT SOCIAL JUSTICE GRANTS

Warner Music Group and the Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund’s second round of grants will go to the Ashé Cultural Arts Center, Overtown Youth Center and The Africa Center, among others.

The fund supports organizations working to uild more equitable communities and create change in the lives of historically underserved and marginalized populations, with heightened attention to Black communities.

“Over the past year, we’ve been developing a targeted grantmaking strategy focused on three key pillars: education, criminal justice reform, and arts and culture,” said Paul Henderson, WMG/BFF SJF Board member. “[These] grants are all about the intersection of community, culture, and commerce, and we’re very proud to support organizations at the forefront of addressing racial disparities with programming tied to the arts and education.”

In addition to the grants, WMG has developed partnerships to counter racial and social inequities, including having executives mentor students at Howard University as well as working with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition to sponsor a series of activation booths at local concerts, festivals, and events, to prompt voter registration among attendees.
