BUDDING AFRICAN STAR SIGNS WITH EPIC

South African singer-songwriter Tyla has inked a global deal with Epic Records on the heels of her indie success with “Getting Late.”

Tyla is signed to Epic through a venture with Johannesburg- and New York-based Fax Records and co-managed by We Make Music and Africa Creative Agency.

“Tyla has all the qualities of a true career superstar,” Epic Records Chairwoman and CEO Sylvia Rhone said. “At the same time, there’s never been an artist quite like her. She’s become a star in Africa on her own terms, and now she’s going to redefine the sound of pop music worldwide.”

The video for her debut single “Getting Late” f/Kooldrink has has amassed 2.3m YouTube views since its release in January and the song has been streamed more than 1m and been featured on the playlists African Heat, Amapiano Grooves and Hot Hits South Africa as well as The BBC 1Xtra playlist.
