U.K. MIDWEEKS: A VOYAGE TO #1

ABBA will claim its 10th #1 on the U.K. Official Albums Chart on Friday, with Voyage (Polar) already scoring 118k in sales. Over on singles, Ed Sheeran and Adele compete for the top spot.

Currently outselling the rest of the Top 40 combined, Voyage is on its way to becoming the fastest-selling album of the year. If the set manages to beat Sheeran’s first-week sales of 139k (Atlantic), ABBA will score the biggest opening week for an album in more than four years.

= is #2 today, while Radiohead’s Kid A Mnesia (XL) eyes a #3 debut.

James Arthur is at #4 with It’ll All Make Sense in the End (Columbia), and Summer Walker’s Still Over It (LVRN/Interscope) starts at #5. Diana RossThank You (Decca) is also new, at #6.

Gregory Porter’s greatest hits, Still Rising: The Collection (Decca), is at #7 midweek, followed by Bullet for My Valentine’s self-titled seventh album on Spinefarm at #8. Lana Del Rey’s Blue Banisters (Polydor) could climb 11 places to #10 following a new vinyl release.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Sheeran’s “Shivers” sits at #1, but Adele’s “Easy o Me” (Columbia) is just 500 in sales behind.

Brighton rapper Arrdee has the highest new entry at #6, “Flowers (Say My Name)” (Island). “Drive” (Atlantic) from Clean Bandit, Topic and Wes Nelson climbs eight spots to a potential new peak of #18, and Summer Walker & SZA’s “No Love” starts at #20.
