APPLE MUSIC CROWNS RODRIGO, THE WEEKND AND H.E.R.

The third annual Apple Music Awards have conferred honors upon The Weeknd, Olivia Rodrigo and H.E.R., among others, and determined which songs have been streamed and Shazammed most in 2021.

Rodrigo received three awards, for Breakthrough Artist, Album and Song of the Year, while The Weeknd was crowned Global Artist of the Year. H.E.R. was named Songwriter of the Year.

The lyrics to Rodrigo’s “drivers license” were the most read of 2021, BTS’ “Dynamite” was the top-streamed song and Masked Wolf’s “Astronaut in the Ocean” was the most Shazammed.

In the U.S., Drake f/Lil Baby’s “Wants & Needs” is the year’s chart-topper, followed by Pop Smoke’s “For the Night,” Pooh Shiesty’s “Back in Blood,” Rodrigo’s “drivers license” and Lil Baby’s “On Me.”
