BEST-SELLERS IN BLIGHTY 2021

Adele’s 30 (Columbia) topped the U.K.'s Official Charts best-selling-albums list for 2021, while Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR (Polydor/Geffen) was the most-streamed album. Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits” (Atlantic) ruled singles.

30 shifted more than 600k in sales to emerge as the year’s top seller, with more than 500k in pure sales (448k physical and 53k downloads). Sheeran’s = took second place on the Top 10 with 432k in sales, followed by ABBA’s Voyage (UMG), with 400k.

Streams of Rodrigo’s SOUR accounted for 83% of its 395k sales figure. There are eight British releases in the albums Top 10. UMG claims five, Warner four and Sony one. Five of the octet were released in 2021.

On the Official Charts singles Top 10 for 2021, “Bad Habits” is #1 on 1.7m in total activity, including 204m streams and 142k in sales. Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” takes second place on 1.39m, including 167m streams. She also had the third-best-selling single, with “Drivers License,” which has been streamed nearly 156m times in the U.K.

British artists scored four entries in the singles Top 10. Five of the 10 arrived in 2021. UMG has five entries, Warner three and Sony two.
