KATY PERRY DROPS "WHAT MAKES A WOMAN"

Katy Perry has released her new song “What Makes A Woman,” ahead of her forthcoming fifth studio album, Smile, due 8/28 via Capitol. Produced by Johan Carlsson and co-produced by Elvira Anderfjärd, the two minute and 11-second song is a celebration of women and can be streamed here.

The single also arrives with a live performance video directed by Tim Sekiguchi, which showcases a pregnant Perry delivering a stripped-down acoustic rendition of the track. Along with “What Makes a Woman,” Smile will also feature “Smile,” “Daisies,” “Never Really Over” and “Harleys in Hawaii.”

Additionally, the songstress recently joined Apple Music’s Zane Lowe for a wide-ranging conversation ahead of her new album’s release. From the release date being so close to her due date to fighting depression, conquering self-doubt and more, Perry tells Lowe: "I'm grateful for the pain because it pushed me towards the growth. I feel like I've got more dimension. I have a baby on the way. I have a fiancé. I love my nieces. I love my soon to be stepson. I love life!"

Perry also discussed her album’s sound and new tracks on Smile like “Champagne Problems.” You can watch the full interview on Apple Music here.

Fans can pre-order Smile here and check out the live video for “What Makes A Woman” below.
