YOSHIKI TO UNDERGO THIRD NECK SURGERY
8/8/24

Yoshiki of X JAPAN must undergo his third neck surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills on 10/8. Doctors anticipate he’ll need several months to recover and to consult with doctors about resuming live performances.

Physicians are hopeful that surgery on cervical discs C6-C7 can restore Yoshiki’s health. His career as a rock drummer and classical pianist has had a severe impact on his body. Currently, he said, everything he touches “feels like ice,” including his piano keys.

Due to Yoshiki’s condition, he’ll have to cancel several shows over the next few months. After the surgery, the WME-repped artist will decide whether to cancel, postpone or move forward as scheduled. As of now, he’s committed to doing 13 shows and multiple appearances around the world, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the U.S. in August and September.

In addition to his seemingly endless collaborations with the likes of George Martin, Bono, Skrillex and Elle Goulding, Yoshiki was selected as the first Japanese artist to be honored with a hand and footprint ceremony at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in nearly a century just last year. Keep up with updates on Yoshiki's Instagram here.
